an interactive session with Child Welfare Professionals titled “Understanding Child welfare system in Ontario’ on May 23rd Saturday.
We have many Social Workers in our community working with various Children’s Aid Societies across Ontario, and four of them are coming together to talk about what they do and what we need to know about the child welfare system in Ontario.
This session aims at providing a fair understanding about the history of Child Welfare System in Ontario, Child and Family Services Act, Child Welfare V/S Child Protection (differences) , Statutory functions of a Child Protection worker (different roles), Child Protection case flow / process and key skills required for a Child Protection worker.
This session is meant for general community as well as for those who are aspiring for a career in Child Welfare. For those who are looking for an employment in Child Welfare, this will be a foundation for the upcoming job specific trainings to be organized by MASWO.
Among the public, there exists many misunderstandings about the Child Welfare system and even many Social Workers believe that Child Protection work is too complicated, oppressive and they are unfit for a job in the sector despite having enough skills. This session will demystify many of these concerns.
May 23rd Saturday at 7pm. Please see the flyer for more information.
