Charles is a child protection worker with the Children’s Aid Society of the Region of Peel. He obtained his Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) form York University, Canada. He joined Peel CAS in 2016 in the Advice and Assessment branch as an assessor, and moved to Parent, Child and Capacity Building branch in 2018. In his current role, he provides ongoing support to children and families involved with the child welfare system. Charles also holds a Masters degree in Social Welfare and Rural Management from Mahatma Gandhi University and Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) from Gandhi Gram University, India.
In the days of his education, he passionately involved in organizing youth and conducting community outreach programs through National Service Scheme, served as its lead at college and university levels. Later, he worked as a full time volunteer with N.S.S. based in M. G. University,coordinating child-centered community development and adult education initiatives. Charles possesses strong clinical, community engagement and team building skills. He has wide-ranging experience in non-profit sector. Prior to moving to Canada, Charles travelled extensively in India and served World Vision for ten years in frontline, technical and leadership capacities and supervised large scale integrated child well- being projects. His areas of interest includes child welfare, community development, social policy and research, and Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DME).
Charles has deep understanding about how social location and structural barriers influence the lives of individuals and groups, especially in the context of newcomer families and immigrant communities in Canada. He is passionately dedicated to making positive differences in the lives of the disadvantaged.
Charles with his wife Prabha and daughter lives in Brampton. Prabha is also a professional Social Worker (MSW) with specialization in medical and psychiatry. She is an active volunteer and community organizer and currently works as program coordinator for Muslim Welfare Canada.
